Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of TYPAL. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.

Last updated 5 October 2026

The service

TYPAL is a typography analysis and design-companion tool. It measures typographic properties of documents and uploaded screenshots, scores them against deterministic rules, and provides recommendations and AI-generated explanations, along with tools for font pairing, type scales and export.

Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Some features require a paid plan; the free plan is limited as described on the pricing page.

Subscriptions and renewal

Pro and Studio are paid subscriptions billed by Stripe in Australian dollars. Prices shown for Australian customers include GST where applicable. Any applicable taxes and the total amount payable are shown at checkout and on your billing records. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically each month and annual subscriptions renew automatically each year until you cancel. Each renewal is charged to your payment method on file.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the Billing page, which opens our secure billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. You keep your paid plan until then, and no further subscription charge is made after that. Your account then returns to the Free plan.

Refunds

Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and other laws that cannot be excluded, payments already made are generally not refunded because you change your mind, stop using the service, or cancel before the end of a paid period. Cancelling stops future charges. If the law requires us to provide a refund, cancellation or other remedy, you will receive it, and those rights prevail over this section. See “Your consumer rights” below.

Changing plans

Some plan changes can be made online from the pricing page. Before you confirm, we show what will be charged today and your next renewal date.

  • Upgrading within the same billing interval (for example, Pro Monthly to Studio Monthly) takes effect immediately. We charge the prorated difference for the rest of the current period, and your renewal date stays the same.
  • Moving from monthly to annual billing takes effect immediately. Unused time on your monthly plan is credited, the remaining annual amount is charged that day, and your plan then renews one year from the switch.
  • Other changes, including moving from annual to monthly billing or to a lower plan within the same interval, are not currently available online. Contact us if you need one.

AI actions already used in the current month remain counted after a switch.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, it will be retried for a limited time and your plan stays active while that happens. If payment still can't be collected, paid features may be paused until a payment succeeds, or the subscription may end and your account return to the Free plan.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content you do not have the right to use, or that is unlawful or infringing.
  • Attempt to circumvent plan limits, probe or disrupt the service, or access another user's data.
  • Use the service to develop a competing automated typography-analysis service at scale.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

Your content

You retain all rights in the documents, screenshots and systems you create or upload. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit that content solely to operate the service for you.

Intellectual property

The service itself — its software, design, scoring rules and branding — is owned by TYPAL. These terms do not transfer any of that ownership to you.

Your consumer rights

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any right to a refund or other remedy.

Liability

This section is subject to “Your consumer rights” and to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, the service is provided “as is” and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, TYPAL is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of the service.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be signposted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Questions can be sent to hello@typal.app.
